This activity was originally broadcast live as a satellite symposium held in conjunction with HOPA 2023.
Program Description
Relapsed or refractory (R/R) non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) may be either indolent or aggressive, with challenges due to limited treatment options. Chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy has improved disease management as the therapy uses a patient’s own T cells to identify and attack cancer cells. However, this process is involved, lengthy, and associated with several unique toxicities. This program will examine the efficacy data, patient selection, and administration processes for recently approved and investigational CAR T-cell therapies for NHL. As patient care teams become more familiar and comfortable with the unique characteristics and toxicities of CAR T-cell products, oncology pharmacists need to help develop protocols for outpatient administration of CAR T cells, including logistics for their administration and storage. Approaches for adverse effect management, operational best practices, REMS requirements, multidisciplinary coordination, and establishing effective CAR T-cell programs will also be presented.
