Preventing drug diversion is crucial for patient safety. Drug diversion can lead to patients not receiving their prescribed medications, which can be life-threatening for those with chronic conditions. Among the myriad responsibilities of pharmacy technicians are verifying prescription orders and dispensing medications, which are 2 important actions to prevent incorrect dosing and that can help ensure medications reach the intended patients. The pharmacy technician's training to help mitigate drug diversion can enable more timely monitoring of prescriptions and inventory. This webinar will outline how pharmacy technicians can identify potential drug diversion attempts within their practice, as well as proper handling procedures, to ensure patient safety.
