This activity was originally broadcast as part of the 2024 Directions in Oncology Pharmacy® conference.

The patient cases discussion portion of the program also includes discussion on immune-related adverse effects.

Program Description

Tailoring treatment based on individual patient characteristics, such as molecular biomarkers or genetic mutations, is becoming increasingly important in cancer care. This remains true for patients living with endometrial cancer, considering the significance of molecular classification and genetic components such as Lynch syndrome in predicting disease and treatment response. Oncology pharmacists must understand the significance of molecular testing in facilitating the selection of targeted therapies that specifically address those alterations, increasing the likelihood of effectiveness and minimizing adverse effects. Recent clinical evidence has proven the utility of immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) in combination with chemotherapy as a frontline option recommended for the treatment of recurrent endometrial cancer. In this session, participants will gain insights into the latest advancements in molecular testing and how these tests can inform the timing and selection of appropriate therapies. Through the use of patient cases, faculty presenters will illustrate the clinical implications of molecular testing and the practical aspects of ICI management to personalize treatment regimens for patients with endometrial cancer.
