Program Description

Myelofibrosis (MF) is a myeloproliferative neoplasm with a plethora of systemic symptoms that may progress to leukemia. Currently, the only cure is allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT), but many patients are ineligible for HSCT. First-line treatment most frequently incorporates Janus-associated kinase inhibitors, but the use of these agents is limited due to development of resistance and associated serious adverse events. With several novel agents under investigation for MF, a better understanding of potential new therapies is essential to modifying the natural disease course of MF and slow disease progression. Pharmacists on the oncology care team have important roles in education and supportive care of patients with MF to help improve adherence and reduce toxicity. This program will explore treatment goals, emerging therapies, and updated recommendations for treatment selection and sequencing in patients with MF. Additionally, expert faculty will review patient case examples to discuss and debate real-world treatment and management scenarios in patients with MF.
