Program Description
Pharmacists can have significant roles in caring for people living with HIV (PLWH). This activity will explore how pharmacists can engage patients in conversation to help reduce adverse effects from antiretroviral therapy (ART) as well as provide suggestions for the health care team in managing and educating patients with weight gain during ART. As some of the most accessible health care providers, pharmacists must identify opportunities to optimize care for PLWH involving patient counseling and retention of care, especially in vulnerable populations. A patient case vignette will be presented to emphasize key intervention strategies when providing counseling about weight gain to PLWH.

At the completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

- Identify and address adverse effects related to antiretroviral therapy (ART) that may impact adherence
