This activity includes patient counseling video vignettes.
Program Description
For patients whose asthma is uncontrolled with traditional medications and who experience exacerbations and hospitalizations, biologic therapies have offered substantial improvements in quality of life. As additional therapies emerge, pharmacists require a deeper grasp of the disease to tailor these medications to each patient's specific needs. This session will focus on the significant burden and unmet needs in the management of moderate to severe asthma and the role of biologic therapy. Patient case video vignettes will be utilized to highlight the role of the specialty pharmacist in asthma care, including patient education and opportunities to assist the multidisciplinary team in the appropriate selection of biologic therapy based on individual patient factors for therapy initiation and optimization.
