Program Description

Over the past several years, multiple targeted agents and immunotherapies for treatment of clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) have been approved and are recommended for use in patients with advanced/metastatic disease, including monotherapies and combinations of agents, with guideline recommendations basing the principles of systemic therapy on favorable versus poor/intermediate risk. As the demand to curb healthcare costs and provide more transparency related to clinical outcomes has grown along with the complexity of precision medicine, payers are focusing on strategies that will promote care quality and value while controlling costs. One such strategy is the use of oncology pathways in clinical practice. Because of the rising interest in oncology clinical pathway use, it is imperative that managed care pharmacists better delineate current, new, and emerging treatment strategies for advanced/metastatic ccRCC. This program will explore the economics associated with these strategies and offer practice approaches for managed care professionals to recognize the effects of utilizing clinical pathways to individualize patient treatment and optimize overall outcomes in ccRCC.
