Program Description
COVID-19 is associated with high mortality and is the fastest spreading virus in the United States. Worldwide, researchers are urgently working to develop an effective and safe vaccine. Several vaccines are in phase 3 development with two receiving FDA Emergency Use Authorization. These new vaccines come with their own global challenges related to storage, transportation, and administration. Additionally, vaccine hesitancy among the public is an issue that all pharmacists should be comfortable speaking about with their patients. This webinar will provide pharmacists with an update on current development and vaccination efforts and address challenges and barriers related to widespread immunization.

Educational Objectives
At the completion of this activity, participants will be able to:
 

• Examine the public health burden of the COVID-19 pandemic in the United States and current prevention strategies
• Differentiate the COVID-19 vaccines in development including mechanisms of action, dosing, and recent efficacy and safety data
• Explore the evolving role of the pharmacist in delivering COVID-19 vaccines and associated challenges related to vaccine hesitancy
