Program Description
Diabetes remains a major global health issue and a leading contributor of morbidity, mortality, and health care costs in the United States. Maintaining glycemic control can improve the quality of life and clinical outcomes for persons with diabetes and also reduce their risk for diabetes-related complications. The 2021 American Diabetes Association (ADA) Standards of Medical Care in Diabetes recommend use of integrated continuous glucose monitoring (iCGM) devices in conjunction with insulin therapy for persons with diabetes who are not meeting glycemic targets. As iCGM technology advances, pharmacists and pharmacy technicians must recognize the different capabilities and features of these devices and offer education and counseling to appropriate patients. This webinar will compare features of available iCGM devices and prepare pharmacy professionals to individualize recommendations for persons with diabetes. Patient counseling videos embedded within the webinar will detail key educational points for individualized selection of an appropriate iCGM device.
