Program Description
Pharmacists and pharmacy technicians have frequent encounters and involvement in management of patients with chronic conditions, including persons with diabetes. The use of integrated continuous glucose monitoring (iCGM) devices has continued to increase among persons with diabetes and have been particularly beneficial for persons with type 1 or type 2 diabetes who are taking insulin but not meeting glycemic targets. With multiple iCGM devices available, pharmacists and pharmacy technicians must be familiar with the specific characteristics and nuances in data reporting of each. This article will feature common questions pharmacists and pharmacy technicians may encounter about use of iCGM and draw from evidence-based recommendations and clinical guidelines to establish best practices to address challenges and concerns to improve implementation of iCGM in clinical practice.
