Program Description
In July 2022, the World Health Organization declared the ongoing monkeypox outbreak to be a global public health emergency. Since the first case was reported in the United States in May 2022, incidence has continued to grow, reaching more than 4500 cases in a short period of 2 months. Several national organizations have implemented strategies to reduce the transmission of monkeypox and allocate preventive vaccinations and treatment for those at highest risk. This webinar will provide pharmacists with an overview of monkeypox and current status of the outbreak; guidance on isolation, prevention, and treatment; and strategies for pharmacists to interface with the public and the health care team to effectively manage and end the outbreak.
