Program Description
Hemophilia is a serious coagulation disorder affecting approximately 1.1 million males worldwide. It is a genetic disorder characterized by variants in clotting factors and is associated with bleeding and potential joint damage. Hemophilia can impact patient quality of life due to complications, treatments, and health care-associated costs. This activity will detail the pathophysiology of both hemophilia A and B, as well as historic and emerging treatments used in clinical practice for both variants of this condition. Additionally, the overall impact of hemophilia on health care use will be discussed, with an emphasis on costs associated with care.
