Program Description

Waldenström macroglobulinemia (WM) is a rare, incurable hematologic malignancy. Patient presentation is variable, ranging from asymptomatic to symptoms including hyperviscosity, neuropathy, and fever. Traditionally, WM has been treated with systemic chemotherapy; however, the use of oral Bruton's tyrosine kinase inhibitors, proteasome inhibitors, and monoclonal antibodies are now incorporated into clinical practice guidelines. This activity will focus on available drug therapies for the treatment of WM as well as clinical data supporting use of the agents. Additionally, the role of the pharmacist in assisting in patient care will be emphasized. Expert clinical faculty will guide learners through several patient case scenarios, allowing the opportunity for audience engagement in optimal therapy selection and adverse effect management.
