Program Description
Despite success with chemoimmunotherapy combination regimens for chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL), challenges remain, and the adverse effects associated with these regimens can increase treatment discontinuation. While treatments for CLL have improved over the last decade, research is ongoing into options that may expand combination approaches as well as finite treatment durations while offering fewer adverse effects along with improved adherence and access. Utilization of currently preferred regimens that include BTK and BCL-2 inhibitors require pharmacists to consider patient-specific factors influencing management. In this continuation of information from the AMCP Annual 2022 Meeting, expert panelists will lead a discussion centered on the challenges affecting both the healthcare system and patients with CLL, including adverse effects, expanding treatment options, combination of IV and oral regimens, and economic burden. Cases discussed amongst the faculty panel will include practical tips for the management of the growing armamentarium of regimens for patients with CLL, formulary management, and resource utilization tactics.
