Overview
Older adults face a range of health-related challenges, including comorbidities, which increases vulnerability to infectious diseases, and polypharmacy that can heighten the risk of medication-related complications. These challenges are particularly pronounced in long-term care (LTC) and senior care settings, where transmission risk is high and residents often require complex medication regimens and ongoing monitoring. Within this context, influenza and pneumococcal vaccination and tardive dyskinesia (TD) management emerge as important areas of essential focus for senior care pharmacists to safeguard patient health. The sessions presented by PTCE during the 2025 ASCP Annual Meeting & Exhibition will review the most up-to-date information on influenza and pneumococcal vaccination recommendations and vaccine uptake in long-term care settings, approaches to manage TD, and strategies to improve the quality of care for older adults. Addressing these areas equips senior care pharmacists with the tools to enhance patient safety, reduce complications, and improve quality of life for older adults in LTC. Please review the agenda to learn more about these sessions.
