Program Description

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) has distinct inflammatory phenotypes, including eosinophilia, which have been found to drive acute exacerbations in certain patients. Insights into the underlying mechanisms of the disease, including the involvement of type 2 inflammation and interleukins, and potential therapeutic targets will be shared. Patients may experience a significant burden imposed by untreated or undertreated COPD, as well as comorbidities that contribute to a higher risk of morbidity and mortality. This first webinar in the COPD curriculum will examine the pathophysiology of COPD and the impact of COPD exacerbations on patient health and well-being.
