Managed care pharmacists play an increasingly pivotal role in shaping how patients access and benefit from essential medications and therapies. As the treatment landscape evolves across a wide range of disease states, staying current on recent and emerging pharmacologic interventions and translating that knowledge into formulary decisions, clinical pathways, and utilization management strategies has never been more essential. For years, the AMCP Nexus conference has brought managed care professionals and pharmacists together to tackle the field’s most pressing challenges. This year’s sessions are designed to support evidence-based treatment guidelines and advance strategies that reduce disease burden and health care resource utilization while sustaining high-quality, cost-effective care. The agenda features sessions grounded in disease-state insights and clinical guidance, spanning a broad set of conditions such as vascular and metabolic pathways, immune-mediated conditions, and inflammatory and fibrotic mechanisms that reflect the range of decisions managed care pharmacists navigate every day. Sessions will cover diagnosis and follow-up, as well as real-world burden and the interplay between cost and disease progression. Additional topics may include formulary evaluation and coverage policy development for emerging therapies, guideline-driven risk identification and coordinated management, and strategies for facilitating appropriate patient access. Each session equips managed care professionals and pharmacists with the clinical insight needed to guide therapy selection, manage cost and access considerations, and improve patient outcomes across increasingly complex care pathways. Check out the agenda to learn more about each session.
