This activity was originally broadcast on November 12, 2022 as part of the Directions in Oncology Pharmacy virtual conference series.
Program Description
Non-melanoma skin cancers, including cutaneous squamous cell and basal cell carcinomas, are a diverse group of malignancies with distinct clinical presentations and pathophysiological characteristics. Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) have advanced the treatment landscape for non-melanoma skin cancers, with several innovative therapeutic strategies and ICI combinations available. However, ICIs are associated with immune-related adverse events (irAEs) and can affect a broad range of organs, including the skin. With the increasing use of ICIs in the treatment of non-melanoma skin cancers, oncology pharmacists must be familiar with dermatological irAEs and management strategies to improve treatment outcomes while minimizing treatment interruptions and discontinuations in patients with non-melanoma skin cancers.
