A Comprehensive Curriculum for Pharmacists: Optimizing DOAC Use Across the Continuum of Care
This resource center is supported by an educational grant from Janssen Scientific Affairs, LLC.

There are currently 4 FDA-approved direct oral anticoagulant (DOAC) therapies for the treatment and prevention of thrombotic disorders or stroke in patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation. Pharmacists across various practice areas are likely to encounter patients receiving DOAC therapies. As each has different indications, dosing, and recommendations for adjustments in special situations and for specific populations, pharmacists must understand these parameters to ensure correct administration of these agents. The webinars within this resource center will prepare pharmacists on the health care team to select the most appropriate DOAC based on patient-specific factors and assist with monitoring, adherence counseling, and patient education related to treatment expectations, adverse events and drug interactions, as well as access to therapies. Webinars will feature patient counseling video vignettes that highlight scenarios of DOAC initiation, continued use and adherence counseling. After completion of the 3 webinars within this resource center, participants will be awarded a certificate of completion demonstrating their dedication to improving the management of DOAC therapies and preventing complications in patients.
