This year’s conference agenda will cover a range of topics that are recognized as critical for pharmacists practicing in the retail, community, health-system, and specialty environments. Topics are determined by our team of experienced pharmacists, expert faculty speakers, and feedback received from our past attendees.

Program Description
 
The Directions in Pharmacy® spring conference offers pharmacists the opportunity to participate in 10 interactive sessions and receive a minimum of 9.5 live credits in one day! The most current and relevant information on disease-state management, clinical data, and treatment guidelines as well as best practices for optimal patient care for a wide variety of disease states will be highlighted. Discussion topics include abuse-deterrent formulations, migraine management, influenza treatment and vaccination recommendations, and guideline-directed therapies for heart failure and diabetes. Attendees will be able to obtain law and immunization credit.  

Upon completion of this application-based educational activity, pharmacists will be able to:

  • Examine the standards of treatments and management for diabetes, heart failure, pain, and migraine
  • Explore current guideline recommendations for influenza prevention and treatment
  • Identify the role of the pharmacist in implementing best practices for patient education and counseling to improve patient outcomes

Located near O'Hare International Airport and 15 miles from downtown, this renowned hotel offers a distinguished and modern atmosphere with innovative amenities. Visitors to downtown Chicago have L train access just 1 block away. The hotel is located at 8535 W Higgins Road, Chicago, Illinois 60631, and can be reached at 773-693-4444. A discounted daily parking rate of $8 is available for meeting attendees. Parking vouchers will be given out at the Registration Desk.

Complimentary shuttle service to and from O’Hare International Airport (ORD) is available through the Marriott. To take advantage of this shuttle service, please head to the Shuttle Center Door #2 located one floor below baggage claim. Shuttles are available every half hour starting on the hour (e.g. 4:00pm, 4:30pm, etc.). If you arrive and there is no shuttle at the scheduled time, please contact the hotel at 773-693-4444. Travel time should be approximately 15 minutes.

Cancellations must be made in writing. Cancellation after March 1, 2019, will be subject to a $25 fee. No refunds will be issued after March 16, 2019. Nonattendance does not constitute cancellation. Complimentary shuttle service to and from Nashville International Airport (BNA) is available through the Marriott. To take advantage of this shuttle service, please head to the Hotel Shuttle pick up area located one floor below baggage claim. Shuttles are available every half an hour starting at quarter to the hour (e.g. 3:45pm, 4:15pm, etc.). If you arrive and there is no shuttle at the scheduled time, please contact the hotel at 615-889-9300. Travel time to the hotel should be approximately 8-10 minutes.
