Directions in Pharmacy® 2020 Overview

The Directions in Pharmacy® spring conference offers community and health-system pharmacists the opportunity to participate in various interactive sessions that provide the most current and relevant information. The complexity of new regimens and need for coordination of care across practice and pharmacy settings has reinforced and expanded the role of pharmacists. Sessions will highlight disease-state management, clinical data, and treatment guidelines as well as best practices for optimal patient care for a wide variety of therapeutic areas. Topics will include treatment and management of diabetes, cardiovascular disease, respiratory conditions, and infectious diseases, as well as immunization recommendations.

Educational Objectives for Attending Pharmacists

Upon completion of this application-based educational conference, pharmacists should be able to:
• Examine the standards of care and management options for chronic diseases, including diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and respiratory conditions
• Analyze current guidelines and recommendations for various adult vaccinations
• Identify the role of the pharmacist in educating health care professionals, counseling patients, increasing adherence, and coordinating care to improve patient outcomes

Target Audience
This continuing education program is directed toward pharmacists practicing in the retail, community, and health-system environments.

Topics will include:
respiratory conditions, diabetes, DOAC reversal, heart failure, infectious disease, influenza treatment, adult vaccination, hypertriglyceridemia
